Socialization problems have not been included in the list of issues that have priority in the national government and public practice. A new generation of young people, who feel themselves as a real creator of the country's history, has come to traditional universities. Thus, the process of students' socialization is extremely complex and contradictory, and the problems of interpretation of this concept in various fields of social and humanitarian and pedagogical knowledge have not lost its actuality. The practice of self-organizing activity of sudent`s community also plays an important role in the socialization of students. The purpose of the article is to study and interpret the concept of socialization of students in scientific works of social, humanitarian and educational orientation. The scientific novelty of the the reseach is an attempt to analyze and interpret the concept of "socialization of students” in scientific works of social, humanitarian and educational orientation. The main results of the research. The author analyzes the definition of socialization given by Ukrainian scientists, and the history of the concept origin is described. It is noted that the term "socialization" is of a complex nature and is considered in philosophy, sociology, psychology, pedagogy and other fields of scientific knowledge. It is stated that the student's age includes all mechanisms of socialization: mastering a social role by a student, training for mastering a social role (of a specialist), the mechanisms of inheritance and mechanisms of the social impact of the teacher on student groups. It is typical for a student at his age to strive for actively choosing his own ideal and lifestyle that meets the conditions of socialization, according to which the individual can play an active role. The conclusions show that the process of socialization is the subject of study of a wide range of humanitarian and social sciences, each of which reveals its specific mechanisms that contribute to the understanding of this process as a multilevel and multidimensional one. In addition, the process of socialization is the subject of educational study, its structure, forms and methods. Further development of the theory of socialization for the understanding of the mechanisms at work with students of higher classical education through the activities of the student's self-government seems promising.
