Abstract
The article deals with historical aspects of educational projects (on the radio and TV) in the East European region and also takes into account historical and political factors affecting development of states. Through radio and TV, both general education projects and different models of distance learning were implemented in the region. First of all, these were courses of lectures without feedback, instruction with consultations and assessment in the field (e.g., at schools), and instruction with visiting the testing centre for exams. In every place where the instructional content was broadcasted, these distance learning educational programs were integrated into the actual school program.
Special attention is being given to the creation of complex organizational structures for remote education via mass media carrying out functions of broadcasting, research, and scientific and pedagogical work within the walls of a single body. The author regards this experience as being of value for today, too.
