Abstract
On the basis of our study we can make the conclusion that alpha1 - adrenoblocker doxazosin and the inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 5 type tadalafil have the same mechanism of ac- tion, which had not been disclosed anywhere previou sly: they raise the rate of oxygen consumption by the tissue of prostate. This fact can explain why the clinical effectiveness either doxazosin or tadalafil is individual in every patient with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and chronic prosta- titis (CP) : vascular system is not able to supply the prostate by adequate quantity of oxygen in com- parison to the increasing demands of the prostate while doxazosin or tadalafil intake. This fact is relevant to clinical fact: the effectiveness either doxazosin or t adalafil is much less in smokers and in patients with atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases than in patients without these prob- lems. By the way, in this article the author firstly assumes that the influence of the drugs on the rate of oxygen consumpt ion by the tissue of prostate is the factor and, may be, the reason of their effec- tiveness in men with BPH and CP.
