Abstract

Congenital aortopat ies (CAo) occupies an important place in cardiovascular dis- ease in children and represent a current medical problem both because of high morbidity (about 10 - 15 % of all congenital cardiac malformations (CCM)), and of severe complications that can de- velop i nstantly. Congenital aortic diseases contribure to increase overall cardiovascular mortality, both during childhood and at adult age. Overall death rate from complications occurred in a pa- tient with aortic disease is 2.49 - 2.78 per 100,000 patients with pre dominance in males. These enti- ties include: aortic stenosis (AS), coarctation of the aorta (CoAo), bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), and genetic diseases involving the aorta: Marfan syndrome, Ehlers - Danlos syndrome etc
