Abstract

The article presents the morphological characteristics of the space - oc cupying mass of the prostate gland revealed in patients with clinically confirmed prostatic hyperplasia. Au- thors analyze the excision material taken from 287 patients through the transurethral prostatic re- section, an open transvesical single - site adenomect omy and cystostomy with biopsy. The pathomor- phological structure of the space - occupying mass of the prostate is represented by benign hyper- plasia – 72.5 %, basal - cell hyperplasia – 11.8 %, atypical adenomatous hyperplasia – 9.4 %, pros- tatic intraepithelial neoplasia – 6.3 %. The signs of chronic inflammation of the prostate tissue are revealed in 35.5% of gross specimen.
