Abstract
According to the data of General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works in 2013, surface irrigation system which is being used in very large part of our country's irrigation networks is in the ratio of 83%, and irrigation efficiency average realizes about 46%. Irrigation efficiency can be increased around 90% in case of using pressurized irrigation methods and closed pipe irrigation system. In this research, if the irrigation system is changed over to closed piped irrigation system instead of surface irrigation system, how much added value will be gained by unity and water users in economic terms and how much system transition cost is met by the unity members and the irrigation unity, is tried to determine at Irrigation Unity of Mustafakemalpaşa Villages in Mustafakemalpaşa province of Bursa. As a result of calculations, it was determined that if the irrigation unity pays only accrued water charges and if the farmers who irrigates their lands supports 10 TL per 0.1 hectare, the transition cost will be met in 7.1 years (70%) or 6.6 years (80% or 90%).
