Abstract

Families make critical contributions to children's achievements. Parental involvement in education, at home and in the classroom, is vital to student's effective learning and academic success. The purpose of study was to explore actual roles of teachers in helping parents become effectively involved in the learning process of their children. The study methodology included questionnaires (applied at 50 teachers and 50 parents) and an analysis of relevant data. The results of study indicated that teachers try to inform parents to support their children's learning, but they think that parents don't do enough. Meantime, many parents want to support their children's learning at home but not always know how to help. The study proposes a new interactive approach, Teachers Involve Parents in Schoolwork (TIPS) process.
