Abstract
Binding interaction and optical properties of 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(naphthalen-1-yl)-1Hphenanthro [9, 10-d] imidazole (MPNPI) with ZnO nanoparticle has been studied. MPNPI is analyzed by 1H, 13C NMR, mass and elemental means. Single crystal X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) investigation is carried out to verify the arrangement of MPNPI and it shows that the MPNPI has monoclinic arrangement. Sol-gel method has been applied to synthesize ZnO nanoparticles, whereas powder XRD, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectra (EDS) methods have been used to characterize them. Binding interaction and optical properties are established by electronic spectral analysis. It is observed that MPNPI strongly binds on the surface of nanoparticles and increases the concentration of nanoparticles into MPNPI resulting in remarkable fluorescence quenching. Fluorescence quenching completes via the electrons transfer from MPNPI's excited state to nanoparticle.
