Abstract

The article presents the results of theoretical reasoning pertaining to the practice of contemporary enlightenment activities (projects) supported by the grant of the Russian Foundation for Humanities aimed at enlightenment as a development factor for innovation strategies of interstate educational space formation (the case of the CIS). Social and cultural conditions that determined the actualization of enlightenment at the turn of the third millennium as in the case of common educational space of the CIS countries are described. The author specifies the qualities of enlightenment activity allowing it to be classified under non-formal education, and defines the specifics of modern phenomena.
