Abstract
Globalization processes, expanding borders for cultural exchange, lead to unification of design products, loss of national peculiarities, local colour. The solution of this issue is suggested through appeal of designers to origins – ethnocultural resources of the region. The study subject is formation of ethnocultural competence in the process of design education. The aim is to distinguish methodological grounds for creation of educational program for designers with the usage of ethnocultural resources. The levels of ethnocultural competence are allocated: axiological, activity and personal and creative ones, as grounds for creation of design educational program.
