Abstract
The present paper attempts at exposing the variability in the degree of graphical, phonetical and grammatical assimilation, all of which comprise the formal assimilation of culinary terms borrowed from the Arabic language into the English language. The peculiar features of the culinary terms of Arabic origin are defined on the basis of their usage in the multicultural novel “The Kite Runner” (2003) by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini.
