Abstract

The future of cellular communication is likely to be dissimilar to what we experience today. Due to ever increasing demand for mobile data services especially in wireless networks, the requirement of developing 5G mobile network is strongly felt. This 5G is set to be deployed in 2020 to replace the 4G and 3G networks currently being implemented. In this paper, three major concerns of executing 5G networks are investigated viz. high operational cost, resource utilization, and energy efficiency. For controlling the high operational cost and optimizing the resource utilization, we herein employed Wireless Resource Virtualization (WRV) technique. To increase the energy efficiency, our approach is based on four strategies such as resource allocation, network planning and deployment, energy harvesting and transfer, and hardware solutions. All these strategies are deployed through transferring data in device-to-device (D2D) communication. By far results reveal that WRV enhances the system throughput although the same can be achieved via diverse means in future.
