Abstract
Due to increase in industrial wastes and increase in scarcity of natural construction materials, there is need of some alternative replacement material. Copper slag is a by-product obtained during matte smelting and refining of copper. In this paper it is used as a partial sand replacement in concrete. Various tests have been performed on copper slag mixed concrete to know the behavior of copper slag under various circumstances. This paper presents the results of an experimental study on various compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexure, density and modulus of elasticity tests on concrete containing copper slag and micro silica as partial replacement of sand. In this research work, M30 grade concrete was used and tests were conducted for various proportions of copper slag. The results indicate that as the percentage of copper slag increases, workability of concrete increased. It was also found that the flexural strength of copper slag concrete is considerably increased with respect to control concrete.
