Abstract

Concrete is a heterogeneous material which contains cement for as binding material, water for the mixture of material, coarse aggregate holding a huge space in concrete and it also raise the strength and fine aggregate act as filler in the voids of concrete. After mixing and laying of concrete, the chemical reaction happens between the binding material and water, duly that it creates heat in a concrete structure. With the help of curing process we can overcome the temperature exhibit from the chemical process, finally after further setting we got a hardened concrete structure. Behavior of concrete material is brittle in nature so we can proclaim as it is good in compression failure and it have a negligible strength in compression, somehow it is weak in tension. Due to the weakness in tension it leads to get a intense crack in the tension area and it further develops to compression end and finally the member breaks. The crack formation in concrete may also occurs due to drying shrinkage. Generally, the drying shrinkage are formed during the time of concrete setting. Basically these cracks are micro cracks and formation of this micro cracks plays a vital role in concrete failure. So increasing the tensile strength of concrete had many attempts before in the past.
