Abstract
Despite of significant and irreplaceable role that small and mediumsized companies have in the Slovak economy, their access to financial sources is difficult. This situation raised after the outbreak of the financial crisis in 2009. Banks respond to the new situation by increased caution when they grant loans. The aim of our article is to analyze the crediting of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Slovak Republic and subsequently draft the measures that could help mitigate the negative impacts of the crisis on SMEs in Slovakia.
