Abstract
The binding of tris - 3,4,7,8 ? tetra methyl- 1,10- phenanthroline)iron(II) s ulphate with s odium dodecyl sulphate o was done us ing a unicam UV-Vis ible s pectrophotometer at 25 C and the analys es were done by emp loying double -5 -3 reciprocal p lots . Abs orbance were taken at fixed concentration of the metal co mple x (1.45 x 10 mol d m ) and the concentration range of s odium dodecyl s ulphate was far below the crit ical mice lle concentration of the s urfactant -5 -4 -3 (2. 00 x 10 - 3.50 x 10 mol d m ). The binding s tudy was done as a function of alka line, acid ic, benzoate ion and urea -5 -5 -3 concentration at fixed concentration range of 0.50 x 10 ? 3.00 X 10 mo l d m . Binding increas ed at low [H+] to reach a + -4 -3 ma ximu m at [H ] = 2.00 x 10 mol d m after which there was a decreas e in binding. The binding reaction was retarded in - the pres ence of OH and urea and enhanced in benzoate ion
