A NOVEL APPROACH FOR POWER QUALITY ENHANCEMENT USING SILICON OXIDE FUEL CELL BASED D-STATCOM

Abstract
The aim of the paper is to evaluate the feasibility of the use of a Non-Conventional Energy Source using Silicon Oxide Fuel Cell in shunt with a Distribution Static Compensator (D-STATCOM) instead of traditional conventional DC storage systems. A altogether new and novel system is proposed, named Silicon Oxide Fuel Cell Distribution Static Compensator or in short, SiO2- DSTATCOM which presents a modular and versatile system configuration; it is possible to integrate a NonConventional Fuel Cell made of Silicon Oxide with traditional D- STATCOM. The new system feature gives enhancement in terms of power quality, reliability and voltage sag compensation. A detail analysis has been carried out on a passive stand by SiO2- DSTATCOM. The experimental result can be easily extended to other possible system on similar lines.
