Abstract
As an effort to utilize rubber•wood tuasteand the abundant resourceof tali bamboo a stucfy of producingparticle board using a mix of the two materialsiuas conducted. In addition,in order to find an alternativeto syntheticadhesive, natural adhesive of wood liquid was used. This research n/as conducted in a 3 x 3 factorialanalisys in acomplete randomized block design with two replicates. Thefactorsstudied were the type of particles (rubber, bamboo ropeand mixtures with a ratio of 50: 50 l?J oven dry weight) and levels of adhesive (10%,15% and 20%.Results showthat1Pood
liquids adhesive is characterisedwith pH< 1,viscosity 2,03 poise, solid content 91%,gelatin time (90) 9 min 48 sec, spesificgravity 1, 15 3 and havingblack colour. The characteristics do notJ111ftlreq11iremet1tof SN! 06-0121-1987 forphenol adhesive. The producedparticle boardhas a density of 0,83 g/ cm',moisture content 6,9%,thicknessswelling 19%,uater adsorbtion 28%, MOE 10540 kg(/cm',MOR258 kg//en/, and Internal Bond (IB) 2,2 kg(/cm'.The characteristics also do not ymftll the requirement ojSNI 03-2105-1996jor tnedium density particleboard. Further researchis still neededto meetthe SN!requirements.
