Abstract
Wood working activities on gfllelina havepro duceda bundant of wood shavings. These was.tes could infactbe used asparticleboardraw material. Thisstuefyexaminedan experimentof converting fllelinawood shaving sintoparti cleboard With pressing variations. The experiment used area family aldellyde(UFJ adhesive and pressingvariations of 15 kg/cm',20 kg/ctn' dan 25 kg/ctn'. Pbysical and mechanicalpropertiesof thepr•oduced particleboardsiuere then tested.
Result sindicate that the produced wood-shaving particleboardis categorizedas medium density,i.e. 0.67 kg/cm2 in average. Pqysical and mechanicalpropertiesof the particleboard couldsatisfy the Indonesian and Japanes estandards,in terms of density, moisture content, thickness swelling and bending strength. However, the properties that comply with the FAO standard were density and thickness swelling on There was a correlativetrend, i.e.the reaterpressure.Produced better particleboardpropreties, although statisticall Ycompressionpressure did not signiftcantly effect the pqysical and mechanical propertiesof the shaving particleboard.
