Abstract
Currently, there is a disparity between wood-logproductionfrom natural'prodeaion-fores: and their consuption for wood-processing industries, including pulp and paperf actories. As the consequence, the Indonesia'sMinistry of Forestry has enactedthe sojt-landingpolicya, mong others reducingthe roleof naturalprod11ctionforestto S11pp/y woodfor pulp/paperfactories,and replacingit gradualy pulpwood plantation forests (PWPF) with species such as Acacia mangium, and Eucaly ptus spp. In using PWPF woods, it is necessary to scrutinize particular aspects like proper exploitationfactorof rawmaterial (wood),basic woodcharacteristicsp, ulp-procestingpropertiesa, nd pulp-sheet qualities such thatthry can satiify consumers. As the relevance, scmti'!Yhas been realized through ''the Determination of Optimum Technical Growth Rotation and ExploitationFactorof Plantation Forest (PF)'s eucaly pt(Eucalyptushybrid) woodas Raw Materialfor Pulp and Paper Viewedfrom Basic Wood Characteristics, Kraft Pulp-ProcessingProperties,and Unbleached Pulp-Sheet Qualities". As such, the e11ca!Jpt-woodsalllj)les weretakenfrom North Sumatera with their varying tree-agesat 4, 5, 6, and 10years. &s11lts revealedthat l!J reckoningthose characteristicsp, roperties, and qualities, the optimum technical rotation of s11ch wood turned 011t to be 7.01 jear age. The exploitationfactorfor euca!Jpt wood at that age 111as still Unknown and instead at 6 years old, the factorreached 95.5 - 97.5%. Thereforef, urtherrelated investigationdeserves carryingout to determine that unknown exploitation/actorN. evertheles, all these scrutiny results might be beneficial for the governmentin determining the policyas well asforthe PF enterprisers.
