Abstract
Introduction. Training of life safety specialists has its history of foundation and development. The contents and organization of the training in this field have changed over the time. There are now researches of the scientists focusing on the professional training of future specialists in fire and civil security at different times and in modern conditions. The issue of the importance of the mathematical component in their development remains insufficiently highlighted. Purpose. The aim of the article is to make retrospective analyses of future specialists in fire and civil security training, from the foundation of the first educational institution to date, with the accent on its mathematical component; to prove the importance of using the knowledge of mathematics in solving professional engineering problems (fire resistance of buildings and structures). Methods. To achieve the purpose of the study, the following were used: content analysis of scientific sources, in particular articles and scientific papers of researchers, and other documents on the organization of training of life safety specialists at different times (XX century – the beginning of the XXI century); generalization of practical experience in applying mathematical knowledge to solve engineering problems. Results. The content of professional training of fire and civil security specialists, starting with the creation of the first educational institution – «Courses of fire safety technicians», has combined general, technical and special training. The level of training for the course students was close to that of the engineering. Mastering technical disciplines by the cadets was impossible without a thorough knowledge of mathematics. With the adoption of Ukrainian independence, institutions of higher education were created on the basis of existing fire safety and technical schools. This has led to the transition of programs and plans for the training of fire safety specialists to the level of engineering training. At present, the rate of learning higher mathematics is the basis for obtaining the high quality technical and special training by future specialists of this sector. In particular, solving many professional engineering problems (fire resistance of buildings and structures), as well as conducting research (construction of mathematical models) requires application of acquired knowledge and skills in higher mathematics by the cadets. Originality. The importance of mastering higher mathematics by the cadets for solving professional tasks of the engineering character in the history of the formation and development of training institutions for future fire and civil safety specialists is demonstrated. Conclusion. The process of studying higher mathematics is complicated by the lack of scientific and methodological developments on the solution of professionally oriented tasks, which sets the vector of further scientific research of the author.
