Abstract
The present article is a result of Professional Master's Design Univille, that approached the development of a modular platform system for boats in 16', fundamented by the ecodesign. The demand of the Brazilian nautical market fluctuates throughout the year, for economic interference, climate, direct and indirect competition. The problems are into the segmentation of the boats types for application and use, that requires specifics features according to the needs of the market potential, such as vessels intended for recreational fishing, water sports and for leisure. So, the general objective of the research is aimed at developing a product platform system, endowed with as interchangeable modules. The methodology applied is based on the Integrated Project products suggested by Back et. al. (2008) and the Sustainable Product Design, presented by Manzini (2008) with the goal of creating an integrated product solution to environmental preservation criteria. Through ecodesign it is possible to rethink the products, considering the ecologic requires, adoption of technical improvements and clean production. The fiberglass composite material is toxic and if discarded improperly it is polluting and of great environmental impact. The waste of the feedstock occurs throughout the production cycle and the final product exacerbates the environmental impacts. As a result, the modular system developed converts a boat in three different products to operate in the nautical sports, amateur fishing and leisure sectors, besides the creation of accessories that convert the product of category, generating new possibilities of customization for the user. Focusing on operational efficiency, the solution is designed to increase productivity, reduce waste and increase quality during manufacturing, yet considers environmental issues, presenting competitive differential, since the proposal foresees an optimized product life cycle.
