Abstract
The faith-action relationship, which is one of the basic subjects of Islamic Theology basically is the problem that anyone who believer after he has committed a cardinal sin whether or not still carrying that qualification. Firstly, this subject is viewed as a problem to be deal with from different perspectives. From this aspect, this subject could both be limited to certain scholar’s view or a movement’s perspective or could be studied in respect to a defined historical period. Thus, this title within the study imposes a framework or restriction about the study itself. This framework and limitation not only defines the methodology and content of the study but also requires working on the problem from theological and linguistic perspective. In this study, the approach of Shams al-Dîn al-Samarqandî who is one of the important scholars of the Mâturîdiyyah tradition in the Transoxania (Mâwarâ’al-Nahr) region, about problem of the faith-action relationship is handled by considering both their own approaches and also alternative approaches.
