Abstract

From this aspect, this subject could both be limited to certain scholar’s view or a movement’s perspective or could be studied in respect to a defined historical period. Thus, this title within the study imposes a framework or restriction about the study itself. This framework and limitation not only defines the methodology and content of the study but also requires working on the problem from theological and linguistic perspective. In this study, the approach of Shams al-Dîn al-Samarqandî who is one of the important scholars of the Mâturîdiyyah tradition in the Transoxania (Mâwarâ’al-Nahr) region, about problem of the faith-action relationship is handled by considering both their own approaches and also alternative approaches.
