Abstract
Transcarpathian region – the locality inhabited by representatives of about 30 nationalities, it is bordered by five states and its history is a strong mix of Western and Eastern European civilizations' historical processes. While being various countries subjects, its population had been affected by many neighboring ethnic groups and religions and formed a unique subtype of Ukrainian culture. This article is a review of modern life of rural families (lowlanders), which trace the changes in the family life of the rural population of Transcarpathia influenced by new socio-economic factors.
