THE ESSENCE AND SYSTEMATIZATION OF SCIENTIFIC APPROACHES TO INFORMATION SOCIETY INTERPRETATION

The article analyzes the Ukrainian and foreign scientists' approaches to the information society interpretation. On the basis of systematization of scientific approaches, it is proposed to consider the information society as a type of new society, the development of which spheres is determined by information, knowledge, information and communication technologies. The author emphasizes the changing role of information, particularly – turning it into a strategic resource, a special production factor, a competitiveness factor, a productive forces element, a specific commodity. The basic traditional and modern features of information are determined. The influence of information and communication technologies on the economic development of the country is identified.
