Abstract
The article deals with the state and objectives of literature for children and youth of the Ukrainian Diaspora of the 2nd half of the 20th century. This development stage of children's literature is conventionally referred to as “the overseas stage”. It includes the work of writers who emigrated to the United States, Canada, and Australia in the 1950's. Main goals of the Association of Children's Literature Workers, which renewed its activities “beyond the ocean”, are dwelled upon. The literature for children and youth of the Ukrainian Diaspora of this stage is defined as "the mission literature".
