A SURVEY OF RECENT TECHNIQUES IN AUTOMATIC TEXT SUMMARIZATION

With the information revolution, thousands and thousands of electronic documents are available today. This has necessitated intensive research in the area of automatic text summarization (ATS). ATS is the process of reducing a text document using a computer program to create a summary that conveys the most relevant things in the whole document while minimizing redundancy. ATS is widely used today in search engines , weather forecasting , news summarization etc. Summarization can also be applied to images and videos. This survey intends to investigate some of the major works done in the area of ATS over the past few years with emphasis on both the extractive and abstractive summarization techniques
