Abstract
The article presents the results of an experiment aimed at studying the ability of recognition of similar subject images in the masking condition. The article describes the results of studying the characteristics of visual perception in students experiencing difficulties mastering “silent reading”. Not only the correctness in the solution of the visual task and the amount of time spent on visual perception, but also the ability to perceive and recognize visual stimuli in the parafoveal field of view, affect the timely and successful development of the “silent reading” skill.
