Abstract
An updated bibliographic review was made of the maternal risk factors that influence perinatal asphyxia, which represents high rates of neonatal morbidity. The different causes of death were reviewed and associated with neonatal asphyxia; produced by congenital malformations, neonatal sepsis and secondary asphyxia to placental conditions and risk factors. A possible action plan was proposed for both primary and secondary levels.
