The study of the universe consisted of the 700 patients with this diagnosis and the sample of 366 patients seen in the cornea service. The variables were analyzed: age, sex, location, degree of pterygium and occupation of risk. The highest frequency of patients between 20 and 29 years old (38.5%), male (59.3%) and occupational risk (82.0%) was found.
