Abstract

This work is devoted to the study of the possibility of cryopreservation of cyanobacteria at –80 °C in the presence of glucose as a cryoprotector. The article presents the results of comparative experiments on cyanobacteria culture cultivation before and after long-term cryopreservation. It is established that optimal cryoprotectants are 10 % solution of glucose and combination of 10 % glucose + 10 % dimethyl sulfoxide. The obtained data indicate that S. subsalsa and A. platensis retain good viability after 12 months of cryopreservation.
