Abstract
A descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study was performed in 78 patients in the intensive care unit of the General Teaching Hospital "Dr. Agostinho Neto" Guantanamo to specify the type of brain hemorrhage, age, sex, scale score of Glasgow; stay, status at discharge, direct cause of death, cause of limitation for invasive mechanical artificial ventilation, duration of hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease at the start of mechanical invasive artificial ventilation; cooling time; complications of ventilation. 96.1% of patients with cerebrovascular disease is treated with artificial invasive mechanical ventilation. These are characterized by: having an intraparenchymal cerebral hemorrhage, be over 60, women score lower than 8 Glasgow, vented about 7 hours after the onset of symptoms. The ventilator-associated pneumonia is the most common complication. The fatality rate is 88.9%. The highest percentage die from multiple organ failure. The proportion of patients with disease cerebrovascular tratados artificial invasive mechanical ventilation is high, and in them is high lethality.
