Abstract
This investigation focused on prediction and optimization of kerf width on wireelectrical discharge machined Al359/SiCp composite. The experimental plan was designed according to central composite design of experiments consists of 30 experimental runs. During the experimentation pulse time wire tension, and feed of wire are varied as the course of action variables to measure the machined cut with (kerf width) as the process response. The kerf width as the WEDM process response represents dimensional accuracy of the machined component. The response Surface Methodology (RSM) is used to establish quadratic connection among the output reaction and the input variables. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is employed to verify the sufficiency of the model and the influence of input variables further on output response is also determined. Finally the robust Taguchi approach is implements to the measured process response and the optimal process conditions were derived.
