Abstract
Business foreign language is an integral component of the professional training of a modern specialist and it is the main and priority direction of oil and gas engineers training in Federal Higher Education Standard. Therefore, the topic of including business foreign language in the curriculum, the search for effective teaching methods is the most urgent problem today. The author presents a theoretical substantiation of the content of the concept of vocational training, examines what competencies should be formed among students. In the framework of the professionally oriented approach, the author offers his author's methodology for teaching business foreign language, which is reflected in the methodological recommendations for students of "Oil and Gas Business" specialty.
