Abstract
Dissimilar AA2024 and AA6061 alloy were friction stir welded by using a "twinpin" profile tool. The present study focuses on the effect of a twin-pin profile tool over friction stir welding (FSW) of dissimilar AA2024 and AA6061 alloys. Whereas (FSW) process parameters such as welding speed and tool rotation speed were investigated with twin-pin profile tool; the results show that the tool with twin-pin profile exhibits better mechanical properties of welded-specimens. Moreover, tensile tests were also performed to determine the tensile strength and the twin-pin profile tool, which shows good tensile properties (162MPa-177MPa). In order to analyze the microstructure of the welded-specimens optical microscopy is used
