Abstract
The globalization of science in the modern world involves close communication between knowledge economies throughout the world. Scientific communication between the European core and the peripheral regions are as well investigated as scientific evolution in different countries of the former colonialized world. In the context of global exchange of knowledge, the history of resource transformations has emerged as a new focus of the project. The challenges of the current energy system have to been studied in its global context and raise the question of historical development of knowledge related to the use of resources and changes in energy systems.
