Abstract
The article analyses G.G. Byron's The Prisoner of Chillon and its translations into Russian from the original by V. Jukovsky and into Uzbek from (intermediary) Russian by the Uzbek poet Muhammad Ali. The meaning of the words, the word orders in the original language, the spirit of the poem in the translations, and differences between the translations are looked at.
