CHARACTERISTICS OF THE INTRINSIC QUALITIES OF THE IDEAL WOMAN IN KOREAN CULTURE

This article presents the results of a lexical-semantic analysis of Korean proverbs with the “woman” component in order to reveal the peculiarities of the inner qualities of an ideal woman in Korean culture. Virtual- ly all the proverbs we have analyzed carry negative connotations. Through these proverbs, one can learn not about the qualities that an ideal woman in Korean culture should possess, but rather about those qualities that are condemned in Korean society. These are such qualities as: talkativeness, inconstancy, excessive emotionality, short-sightedness, etc. Based on this, it can be assumed that a woman should be laconic, loyal, calm, have a mind, but not demonstrate it, etc
