Abstract
Four types of laminated composite materials are tested experimentally in order to estimate the fatigue characteristics and investigation of the mechanical properties for a manufactured symes prosthetic socket. The socket is made of lamination 80:20 matrix reinforced by four types of reinforcement fibers; the first type includes (4perlon, 3carbon fiber and 4perlon), the second type is (4Perlon,3glass fiber and 4perlon), third type is including (4perlon, 3n-glass and 4perlon) and fourth type is including (8Perlon). The mechanical properties of, yield stress , ultimate strength and modulus of elasticity for the first group ;were 167MPa,218MPa and 1.9GPa respectively , for second group were142MPa,, 160MPa,and 1.7GPa respectively, for the third group were 42 MPa, 47MPa and 1.1GPa respectively and for the fourth group were 36 MPa, 39MPa and 1.08GPa respectively. The internal pressure value between the patient's stump and the manufactured socket was measured using (Fsocket) Mat scan sensor It was (222kPa) for the lateral section and (324kPa) for the posterior section. From fatigue test for all groups and ANSYS 14.5 software, the safety factor for composite material (4Perlon ,3carbon fiber,4perlon) layers is about (1.83) which is considered as safe and acceptable in design applications.
