Abstract
Alzheimer's disease could be an autoimmune disorder. Ceramide, the lipid molecules bound to Amyloid beta in cell membrane act as non - magnetic antigens and induce the activation of immune cells. The acid sphingomyelinase releases ceramide from sphingomyelin finally resulting in the formation of ceramide-enriched membrane. platforms. These membrane domains serve the clustering of receptor molecules for immune cells Receptor clustering is associated with cell death signaling pathway.
