Abstract
The musical notation of maqam, carried out in the European clock system, is the most important historical event not only in the development of the phenomenon, but also in the cultural life of the region. It deserves attention in a number of circumstances. First, the musical notation by V.A. Uspensky from the great musicians of Bukhara was held in 1922-1923 at a turning point in history. This happened during the turn of the centuries-old foundations of traditional culture, including music. The significance of the current moment for the continuity of musical traditions was that at that time the great masters, carriers – keepers of its centuries-old traditions Ota Jalol (1845-1928) and Ota Giyas (1852-1926) lived. Only they could be reliable informants in transferring the sounding model of the monumental musical vault into the musical text, to preserve it for future generations.
