The Analysıs Of The Concept Of “Istıfâ” In The Quran In the Quran, the concept of ‘ıstıfâ' is generally used as mean of ‘to choose', ‘to prevail', ‘to make someone prominent' or ‘to prefer'; however it is a concept that interests people, in particular. Allaah has made human beings superior and promi-nent among the creatures, and he has stated that some people are superior than ot-hers. Allaah chose some people as prophets and stated that some prophets are supe-rior than others. Moreover, his making some ummah-within their own age- superior than others shows us the other dimension of concept of ‘ıstıfâ'. The importance, per-petuity or temporariness of this prominence and superiority has been one of the is-sues that all people have discussed until now. Almighty Allaah has clearly stated the criteria and reasons of being prominent and superior in the Quran.
