ABOUT RELEVANCE OF STUDYING OF GRAVESTONE MONUMENTS OF AZERBAIJAN

Article is devoted to identification of relevance of studying of the gravestone monuments of Azerbai- jan relating to the period from XVII – till the beginning of the 20th century. It is noted that rich decorating of gravestones, steles and chest-shaped gravestone monuments demonstrates that the skillful carvers of a stone, calligraphers worked in Azerbaijan during the studied period. It is emphasized that the illustrative motives deco- rating gravestones in Azerbaijan are one of the historical values included in a treasury of material and spiritual culture of our people. Detailed reflection of nature of the Azerbaijani gravestone monuments for the period from XVII – till the beginning of the 20th centuries on the basis of the principle of folk art is relevant in the context of studying of the modern Azerbaijani art. Scientific understanding of positive experience in this area can give an impetus to development of the fine arts
