Abstract

This article includes historical researches on Turkey's Aydın Province in the19th century, characteristic female-male traditional clothes, head covering culture and jewelry. Turkey has a very rich legacy in head covering culture, clothing, embroidery, lace, jewelery diversity (which can vary even from village to village) as well as folk songs, maniler (a kind of folkloric and anonymous poetry), folk dances and Turkish cuisine. The aim of this research is to contribute to this unique culture that seperates from Aegean Region's clothinghistory while documenting its contents in the name of immortalising it and trying to save this spesific culture from the verge of extinction. At the same time, it aims to provide examples of the head covering culture samples belonging to the province of Aydın, by detailing them, and also it aims to regain the names of clothing and accessories that are used no more in nowadays. In addition, it is utmost importance that information and memory which will be formed by various cultural studies are shared with future generations and transferred to next generations. In this sense, examined and explained dimensions, fabric types, sociological language and symbols of the characteristic clothing pieces of Aydin Province which are our cultural codes of clothing like , Uladu Scarf-Uladu Ortu/veil-a kind of sharf, Cheki-ceki, Fes, Krep, Gonek/Shirt, Uchetek, Onluk- Gogusluk/apron, Shalwar, Kushak/waistband, Fermile, Peshtamal, Zibin etc
