Abstract
The Indian IT and ITeS industry is divided into four major segments – IT services, Business Process Management (BPM), software products and engineering services, and hardware. Indian software industry has been witnessing a phenomenal growth for the last Three decades. The software industry is expected to play a vital role in the growth of Indian Economy. Performance management sets expectations for employee performance and motivates employees to work hard in ways that is expected by the organization. Moreover, performance management system provides a completed and professional management process for organizations to assess the performance results of organization sand employees. Employee performance could be expected, assessed and encouraged. Improving employee performance by using performance management system is a way to improve organizational performance. Hence this study investigates the employee's opinion about the present practices of performance management system.
