Abstract
This article is devoted to children’s difficulty in learning homonyms. Children have well-documented problems with learning words when there is no one-to-one correspondence between a word and its meaning. The greatest interest was focused on words with overlapping extensions, such as synonyms and words at different levels of the same hierarchy, for example, spaniel, dog and animal.
