International book exchange in the world information environment (cooperation of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine with other countries)

Today . Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine is responsible for an international book exchange with scientific organization in 64 countries around the world. For the last years the changes of utmost importance to an international book exchange organization and implementation approaches have been achieved. With the advent of modern communication equipments many scientific publications have made a transition to an online format. The lack of funding for a regular publication shipping abroad forced many exchange partners into ceasing an international book exchange with. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. The reasons are generally known: a price rise of postal services; a lack of funding; appearance of electronic format publications and electronic access. But an international book exchange is remaining an important acquisition source of international publications. The evolution criterion of the book exchange importance should not be determined as quantity, but the received publications information value is a general standard. It is necessary for the Library to broaden contacts with international scientific organizations and information centers in order to identify and implement new working methods and work formats in the area of an international book exchange.
