Abstract
The article deals with the historiography of the problems of libraries’ activity on legal information in conditions of the development of social information communications as a system of works and studies (theoretic elaboration and generalization of practical experience). The theoretical grounds and changes in the role of libraries in the modern world, their transformation into information centers, the subjects of the formation of social information bases as forewords of the national and, more broadly, global development are explored. The research of modern scientists on the transformation of library activities in the context of the participation of specialized library units in political and legal communications is carried out through information and analytical activities; granting citizens access to legal information, promoting legal education and e-government development.
