Abstract
The paper examines and summarizes existing methodological developments to prevent and correct typical students' mathematical errors and develops a new approach to this problem. The analysis of typical mathematical errors of students and the causes of their occurrence are summarized. A new approach was proposed to solve the problem of preventing and correcting typical mistakes, the essence of which is as follows: to offer students specially designed problems with erroneous or non-rational decisions on a specific topic as independent work, in order to identify and correct them. A system of tasks has been developed for the section “Irrational equations and inequations”, which help to prevent or correct typical mathematical errors in this section.
