Abstract
The interest in the performing art of the XX century is one of the actual trends of modern musical science and practice. The wide range of issues tied with performing and pedagogical activities, artistic career of Honoured Art Worker of the RSFSR (1942), laureate of the USSR State Prize (1943) Professor Vladimir Vladimirovich Sofronitsky (1901-1961) is onsidered in the article.
